Angle Grinder Safety Checklist
Angle grinder safety: why is it so important?
Using an angle grinder safely is a no-brainer. But we all know that getting too used to our power tools can make us sloppy, and being sloppy with a grinder can cause very serious injuries. This Safatco Guide will walk you through a basic but important angle grinder safety checklist to keep you safe on the job site.
Make sure that the rpm number of the grinder discs you buy is the same as or higher than the rpm of your tool.

How to Stay Safe When Using an Angle Grinder
You must follow all of the manufacturer’s instructions and all health and safety instructions on-site when using a grinder. This includes having the right PPE.
Inspect the power cord and the plug
Watch out for damage to the plug, like pins that are bent. The voltage of your machine will be written on the sticker on your grinder. This should match the plug and fuse.
Check the power cord next. The best way to do this is to run your fingers down the wire and look for splits or cracks in its insulated sleeve. Make sure to unplug the cord first.
Now look closely at the hole where the power cord went into the machine. There shouldn’t be any cords or wires that can be seen.

Grinder Safety Checklist
Inspect the body of the grinder
Now, we’re looking for damage to the grinder’s body itself. Pay close attention to the vents, which should be free of dirt, dust, and other things.
Make sure the switch on the grinder works the way the maker intended. The side handle of the grinder should be connected correctly, and again, check it for any damage.
Look at the guard next. Again, this should be in good shape and be firmly attached to the grinder. It should also fit the grinder you are using and not have been changed in any way.

Angle Grinder Safety Precautions
Inspect the flanges
The hubs on your grinder are, of course, a very important part. These should be in good shape and ready to use. If you’ve done all of these things, you’re ready to put the grinding or cutting disc on the grinder.
To do this, you should follow the advice from the manufacturer and not tighten the disc too much. Spin the disc a few times with your hand to make sure it’s in the right place and isn’t coming loose.
